Kepard VPN Review and Overview

in VPN Reviews

We have good reason to be paranoid these days, with all of the identity theft and “big brother” news floating around, so many people feel the need to move towards a service that can provide them with a network that will shield them from unwanted eyes and unprovoked attacks.

One of the most recent additions to the VPN landscape is Kepard, a new but ambitious, VPN service provider.

VPN packages and Price

The pricing structure for Kepard is pretty straight forward, and their pricing can definitely be considered competitive. Based on a discount structure, you can elect to go with a monthly plan for $7 per month, buy three months at $19 or an entire year for $69.

While you have access to premium servers with the free trial, the premium (paid) version gives you unrestricted speed and unlimited traffic as well, which is, in our opinion, well worth the low monthly cost.

You need only enter your email address, password and payment information to get started and luckily, they accept not only MasterCard, Visa, Amex and Discover, but PayPal as well, which is always a bonus in our books, especially considering the hundreds of millions of users who use the secure service.

Free Trial

Everyone loves the word free, and free trials are certainly no exception. You can try the Kepard VPN for 365 days, absolutely free. Yes, you did read that right that is one full year. While the trial isn’t exactly unlimited, it does give you the freedom to be able to determine whether or not the system is going to meet your needs, or that of your organization.

When we say “isn’t unlimited” what we mean is that Kepard has limited daily to 30 minutes of use, but the trial period is adequate for the purposes of suitability. Switching to the premium version of the service is both simple and seamless.

Available Protocols and Server Location

The VPN supports OpenVPN, L2TP and PPTP, which is phenomenal considering that they are the most widely used, and rarely available on an international level. Kepard also boasts a high level of security by making use of protocols like L2TP/IPsec to encrypt all of your Internet traffic.

Kepard has covered all of the major bases as far as server locations and the locations include the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Netherlands and Germany. The VPN also gives you the ability to access new server locations as they become available, as provided by the automatic updates.

Support

Clients have the ability to get in touch from their control panel, and their website does offer a special Support section which answers FAQ’s, gives you information on affiliates and step by step instructions on how to check your manual settings. Kepard claims 24/7 service 365 days per year, which is fabulous considering they are an international enterprise.

Money Back

Kepard has a 7 days money back guarantee. As far we are concerned though, the company offers a generous enough free trial to negate the need for a guarantee. If you haven’t figured out that the service is right for you after their trial period, you’re doing something wrong.

Traffic & Speed Restrictions

Imagine a world where your ISP didn’t throttle torrents and you could use P2P applications anonymously. Does your office or school prohibit the use of social media sites, or even YouTube? You’re in luck because Kepard is your workaround, providing you with unlimited traffic and access to otherwise restricted web space.

Our initial trials demonstrate that there is no lag dealing with the VPN, so long as you’re tapping into a server that is within a reasonably close proximity to you. Even if you’re not, the speed difference is marginal at best. Unless you’re using a speed test, you wouldn’t even notice the difference. Kepard promises unrestricted speeds, so let’s keep our fingers crossed that this doesn’t bog down the system, because we like our VPN’s nice and fast.

Platforms on which Kepard works

It’s Kepard a good choice for iOS VPN or Android VPN ?
Any device running an operating system on the supported list can take advantage of Kepard. That means your laptop, personal computer, Android phone, iPhone and even your iPad. Installation of the network itself is very straightforward and if you get lost somewhere in the shuffle, you can head on over to the support channel or submit a trouble ticket to the Kepard staff.

All major operating systems are supported including Windows, Linux, OSX, Android and iOS. Yes, this means smartphone integration too! We would have loved to see Ubuntu, but we’re not sure on this distribution just yet, especially with the availability of Linux Mint.

We tested the service on all of the regular Internet browsers and they performed flawlessly in Chrome, Opera, Safari, IE and Firefox.

Conclusions

Everything that can be done with other VPN’s can be done with Kepard, but what sets the company apart from others is mainly the support of its protocols, the fact that it automatically detects when a connection is lost and makes attempts at ameliorating the situation immediately. You have unfettered access to the VPN settings and can change server locations and even protocols with just a few clicks of your mouse.

You can connect and disconnect with one click and even run two connections at the same time, in different locations, using different computers. Currently, there’s only support for the two, but we can dream, can’t we? Using a NAT Firewall keeps spammers at bay and guarantees your secure connection. Even though the program is still in its infancy it easy to use and reasonably priced considering the competition. Let’s just hope it stays that way.

I have been dealing with kepard.com for almost a week now and they’ve been nothing but trying to be helpful. My experience with them have been excellent.

Pros:
1. Tech support responds fast and email replied within the day, more often than not faster;
2. Free trial and provide support even during the whole year (30-min daily) free trial;
3. Support all platforms (PC, Mac, iDevices and androids);
4. Support all three most popular protocols PPTP, L2TP and OpenVPN;
5. Tech support would use Teamviewer to try further figure out the connectivity problem;
6. Unlimited bandwidth and unlimited “switch” number among all servers in different countries

Cons:
1. No live chat or phone number (off set by provide timely email reply and Teamviewer in my view);
2. No configuration guides to “jailbroken” iDevices connecting through OpenVPN (but this could be a “considered” decision on the company’s part of not getting into something potentially “troublesome”);
3. Not as many servers in as many different countries as StrongVPN or HMA (however StrongVPN only allows a very limited number of switches per month)
4. Not all protocols on all platforms may be able to connect (for example we still haven’t figured out how to connect my Mac, running Snow Leopard, and my iPad 2, with iOS 5.1.1, through L2TP)

In summary I believe anyone who’s looking for a reasonably priced VPN that allows you unlimited bandwidth and strong customer support should look into this young company.

I’ll update my review once I have more experience with them, with time. 🙂

Hey Kepard, thank you for your service. Actually I’m using it for more than a month and I should admit I like it. So, in order not to spend only 30min. per day using VPN Service, I discovered other way of spending 15 days of Premium VPN for free. There should be done actually only two things: first, create an account through this link: http://kep.md/dz8 , and then you can start inviting other friends of yours if you want to get 30 days of Premium Free VPN per invite. Just give it a shot. Good luck!!! 😉
